The Versatile Blogger Award!

April 20, 2011

Thank you, thank you, thank you, to the girls over at Statement Art, Design & Fashion for choosing LuxeLifeLove to receive a Versatile Blogger Award! I was so overjoyed to read their email through the Independent Fashion Bloggers network; it’s my first blogging award and I couldn’t be happier that others enjoy reading LuxeLifeLove as much as I love writing it.

But I have a confession—I’ve been a bad bad girl…  I received this email exactly 27 days ago, and this is my first proper attempt at telling you all about it. Although I did message Statement ADF right away to thank them, the farthest I came to blogging about the award was a feeble attempt at trying to think up seven things about me that you might actually find interesting, and slightly more thoughts on the seven other bloggers I’d like to award, as per recipient guidelines. And there you have it, procrastination at its best.

But here I am finally, at home sick (and taking care of my much sicker puppy, poor girl), squelching my procrastination once and for all for the time being. In my About section I’ve haven’t said much about myself, more about my intentions for the blog, so here I’ll try to get more personal.

Seven Random Tidbits About Yours Truly:

  1. I’ve got 6 years of post-secondary education behind me, and if I had the funds I would probably do 6 more!  I love learning, and there are sooo many programs/courses I still want to take, like more graphic/web design, journalism, and photography.  My first year of university I was enrolled in an International Studies program. I loved the languages portion (I took Japanese, and was asked to apply for a study abroad program where I would complete a degree in Japan…fully in Japanese), but hated all the politics courses.  After that I completed a certificate in Fine Arts, but didn’t really want to pursue being an artist, so I now also have a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design & Technology from Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
  2. I’m a huge word nerd.  A walking, talking, breathing thesaurus… according to some friends from highschool. I may not be able to tell you the definition of a word when I suggest it for a sentence, but I know belongs there.
  3. Since I graduated from the Fashion Design program, I’ve become slightly less interested in clothing, and totally OBSESSED with interior design and decorating.  Maybe because my current furniture is either a complete ikea bedroom set (cringe!!!) or hand-me-downs of the super ugly variety.  In any case, while I would love to post more about interiors, you definitely won’t be seeing much of my apartment until I can a) start to replace the furniture with more stylish pieces, or b) move and donate everything to a charity shop so I can start with a blank canvas.
  4. The sound of people chewing—especially crunchy food—without any background noise drives me up the wall, especially when I’m trying to concentrate on something.
  5. Even though I love buying coats and boots,  I despise the cold, and one day I will live in a place that is warm and sunny year round (preferably with great beach access!) I’m a beach baby at heart. As a toddler, my parents had to bring extra swimsuits to the beach because as soon as I got one wet, I’d immediately strip it off! Luckily I grew out of that phase before I was old enough for it to be embarrassing or inappropriate.
  6. Last summer I tried skim boarding for the first time and loved it! I can’t wait to get back at it this summer.
  7. I don’t own any black pants (leggings and Lululemon yoga pants don’t count!).  When I try on black pants, my mind automatically decides that nothing I own will ever go with these pants.  I can’t picture black pants with anything other than tops in black, white, or shades of grey.  But this only applies to me, and only to pants.  Strangely, this weird mind-trick doesn’t apply to skirts or to other people’s outfits. If any of you have a cure, let me know!
