The Moody Blues

April 18, 2011

Saturday night I attended the Drew William ‘Drift’ presentation for Vancouver Fashion Week.  What better excuse to wear one of my own creations! This draped reversible tunic-dress was a part of the VIAVERA Spring 2011 collection entitled ‘Industrial Organic’.  VIAVERA was my thesis collection, a line of travel-friendly pieces designed with packability, versatility, and international relevance in mind.  The basis of my collection’s colour palette, I fell in love with this fabric’s painterly print and muted colours. I call it the ‘waterfall’ tunic for the water-streaked paint effect, and the way the armholes drape into cowls.

Thanks ladies! Its kind of a “one-size-fits-many” sort of top, and looks totally different worn in reverse with the V-neck in the front! I actually made another one in a smoky-grey silk charmeuse that looks really stunning with all the draping! Quite a challenge to draft though, the pattern pieces look like a mutating amoeba…
