Are we decorating for ourselves or for our design-conscious friends (or blog readers)? Every time I feel like some of the sparkle of decorating is wearing off, I realize it’s because I’m over-thinking it or worrying too much about what other people will or won’t like.

Jenny of Little Green Notebook answers a thoughtful commenter question regarding the oversaturation of design trends in the blogosphere, and what that means for bloggers’ and blog followers’ own design decisions. This is just as relevant in the fashion community and I agree with Jenny’s take. While trends are great, you have to dress (or decorate) based on what YOU love, not on what the blogging world deems in.

Nubby Twiglet’s Beginner’s Guide to Paris (compiled after her recent trip with Gala Darling) brought back some wonderful memories of my own Parisian experience with my sister. While ours was slightly less of a perfect Paris experience than Nubby’s due to some unfortunate events (I might have to create my own Paris guide on what to do when things go wrong!), her tips are spot on and can really apply to a lot of European destinations.

This Aurélia Bidermann ring is an unexpected way to try the spring lace trend. It’s a beautiful piece, but the price tag leaves a lot to be desired… I’m sensing a little DIY project might be in order here!
